The most important thing to do is be honest with yourself and correct any behaviors and attitudes that are detrimental to yourself or others. Anything that you are uncomfortable with, as an example, “I’m so shy” that you want to overcome, start by saying in your mind the opposite of any behavior or attitude you want to change. Most of us that have Self Esteem Problems are stuck in negative thinking patterns that prevent us from moving forward and growing into stronger individuals. The trick is to catch yourself thinking negatively, and immediately state in your mind the opposite even if your concious mind does not believe it. The truth is, your subconcious mind will believe anything you say to it, so the predominant thoughts in your mind will be how you tend to act. For example, if you tell yourself you are shy over and over, you will likely act very shy. You will look down at your shoes or someone else when you meet someone instead of standing straight and tall and looking someone right in the eye in a friendly and interested way. Each one of us is tremendously special and has been given unique and incredible gifts – the trick is to discover those gifts and use them to help ourselves and others in a positive way. That is our purpose – to learn and teach others and in doing so becoming stronger spiritually.
